Back to school on Aug. 19 -- A quick guide

Welcome back!
The board members, faculty and staff of the West Branch Community School District wish to welcome students and parents back for the new school year.
Please contact any of the school offices if you have any questions or concerns that you have at any time during the year.

Registration
E-registration begins on Aug. 4th. If you don’t have a computer or internet access, walk-in registration will be held in the high school library on Monday, Aug. 4th, from noon until 7 p.m.
All registration will be done online. Computers will be provided to complete this process, otherwise this process can be done at your own convenience before the start of the school year. Please contact Laura Gongora at 319-643-7213 if you need assistance with e-registration.

Supply Lists are included inside this Back to School Issue and are also posted on the school’s website (www.west-branch.k12.ia.us).

School calendars
The 2014-15 school calendar may be created using the Activities Calendar link on our school Web site. You have the ability to customize a monthly calendar with the events you choose. This site also allows you to sign up for reminders/notifications of school events.

WBMS locker night
West Branch Middle School Locker Night for grades 5-8 will take place Monday, Aug. 18th from 4-6 p.m. Students will receive class schedules and locker assignments.

Preschool-4th grade open house
Students in grades Preschool-4th and their families are invited to join the elementary staff from 4:30-6pm on Monday, Aug. 18, at Hoover Elementary. This is a chance for everyone to meet the Hoover Elementary staff, see their classrooms and get the new year off to a great start!

Freshman locker night
Freshmen may come to the high school on Monday, Aug. 18th from 6-8 p.m. to check out their lockers and try out the combinations.

Fees
Registration Fees (includes books and materials)
Elementary - $40
Middle School - $40
High School - $50
Athletic passes
K-12 Student Pass – $60
Adult Pass - $100
Passes may be purchased in the high school office or online using TouchBase. The link is found on the school’s website.
Regular admission for volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track, baseball and softball games is $4 for students and $5 for adults.
Admission to football games is $3 for students and $5 for adults.

First day of school
The first day of classes will be Tuesday, Aug. 19th. Students should come to school prepared with supplies noted in the supply lists found on Page 13.

Laptop rollout
West Branch Community Schools is excited to continue our 1:1 technology program for students in 5th – 12th grade!
Laptop rollout for 5th grade students and new students (6th-12th) to the District will be on Tuesday, Aug. 12th at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Each student and his/her parent are required to attend an orientation meeting to review policies and procedures. Returning students will receive their laptops on the first day of school.

Student accident insurance is available for the 2014-15 school year.
