Laura Ingalls Wilder historian Sarah Uthoff will present "In the Kitchen with Laura," a special program set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum auditorium.

The program includes stories and information about Wilder's life with food history and some hands-on cooking similar to the 1930s.

Also, at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., park rangers will offer guided walks on the tallgrass prairie, talking about how and why the National Park Service is reconstructing the habitat to preserve some of the history of Hoover's life in West Branch.

The walk is less than a mile and lasts about 60 minutes. Participants are encouraged to bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes, as well as dress for the weather. Hats, sunscreen, sunglasses and insect repellent are also encouraged.
