West Branch Family Practice and several dermatologists, brought together by a West Branch woman who lost her husband to melanoma, will present the Third Annual Skin Cancer Screening day 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The doctor's office is located at 206 Cookson Drive in West Branch.
Molly Menard, who lost her 41-year-old husband, Mark, to melanoma in 2011, noted that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States.
Doctors performing screenings throughout the day:
• 10 a.m. to noon: Dr. Colleran and Dr. Tschetter
• noon to 2 p.m.: Dr. Wall and Dr. Vidal
• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Dr. Pietras and Dr. Walling
Menard also states that:
• Each year there are more new cases of skin cancer than the combined incidences of cancer of the breast, prostate, lung and colon.
• One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime.
• One person dies from Melanoma every 57 minutes in the United States.
• An estimated 9,710 people will die from melanoma in 2014.
