Beverly “Bev” A. Berger, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at the funeral home in West Branch. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Liberty Fire and Rescue Unit.

Bev was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Iowa City, the daughter of Sam and Mildred Ellyson Irey. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Robert Berger on Jan. 24, 1948, in West Branch. They farmed together from 1948 to 1963. Bev then worked at Wuestenberg Insurance Agency in West Liberty for 20 years.

Bev cherished being with family and friends and appreciated the simple things in life. Socializing with people was something she liked to do. She enjoyed outdoor activities, golfing, mowing her yard, planting flowers and watching sports on TV. She and her husband Bob also enjoyed playing in two card clubs in their early years.

She is survived by her two daughters: Virginia “Ginni” (Jeff) Potter of North Liberty and Teresa (Terry) Ruess of West Liberty; grandchildren: Jaime (Tim) Parizek of West Liberty and Ryan (Gaby) Ruess of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren: Emma Parizek and Riley Parizek; step-grandchildren: Kyle (Melanie) Potter and Natalie Potter, both of North Liberty; and step-great grandchildren: Michael Potter, Katrina Potter, Brianna Becicka and Brandon Becicka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Janet Campion.
