Shirley Jean Heick, 81, of West Liberty died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City.
Private family services will be held at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty with interment in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice Care at Mercy, Iowa City. Online condolences may be made the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com.
Shirley was born March 16, 1933, in Cedar County, Iowa, the daughter of Adna and Beryl Williams Miller. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1951 and attended Beauty School in Cedar Rapids. On April 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert Heick in Letts, Iowa. Shirley and Bob and farmed for many years prior to moving into West Liberty. She later was employed with the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty for 20 years until her retirement.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and enjoyed her family, especially her grand- and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of West Liberty; two children: Sue (Kurt) Kirchner of Nichols and Scott (Karen) Heick of West Liberty; five grandchildren: Bobby Jo (Pat) Gates, Jake Heick, Celsey (Jake) Beck, Erin (Tom) Fitzer and Andy (Amy) Kirchner; and seven great-grandchildren: Kobe, Cooper, Keaton, Blaine, Avery, Melany and Maxson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark and brother Fred.
