News · April 16, 2015

Saturday, April 18, the Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum and the Hoover National Historic Site will be hosting Girl Scout Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 175 area Girl Scouts registered to spend the day at the Hoover Complex earning their Laura Ingalls Wilder Badge, representing the American author who wrote down the stories of her family traveling across the Midwest in a covered wagon looking for a new home.

This badge helps the Girl Scouts learn about the Pioneer age and why Laura’s life story is important.

Events include: 1. Storyteller Marie Tschopp — 10:30 and noon — telling stories about the life and works of Laura Ingalls Wilder; 2. Viewing original manuscripts of “Pioneer Girl” – the unpublished first stories that Laura wrote about her childhood; 3. Pioneer cooking, games and crafting; 4. Visiting the one-room school house
