Lyle “Butch” Stout, 71, of West Branch died Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City.

Services were Wednesday morning, May 13, 2015, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery near Cedar Bluff. Lyle was born May 8, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Gerald and Blanche Brick Stout. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1962. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. He was united in marriage to Janet Eberhart on Oct. 21, 1967, in Monticello, Iowa. Lyle was employed with FS Feeds in Tiffin for 32 years.

Lyle enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially coon hunting, fishing, and taking care of his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Stout of West Branch; sons Bret Stout of West Branch, Jim Stout of Moscow and Kevin (Marisa) Stout of West Branch; grandchildren Laressa, Zac, Madelyn, Ty and Jase; sisters Joyce (John) Zaruba and Jean (Keith) Jennings; brothers Bob Stout, Wayne Stout and Gary Stout; and a sister-in-law Ellen Stout.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Herman Stout and sisters-in-law JoAnn Stout and Bev Stout.
