Robert Kerr Brooke was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Robert W. and Lolita Kerr Brooke. Kephart in West Liberty.

Bob had been a John Deere dealer for 54 years in the family business Ditmars-Kerr and, later, Farmers Supply. A community man, he was involved in much: many boards and committees with the City of West Liberty, including the Zoning Commission and the West Liberty Fire Department, where he had served as chief and assistant fire chief, the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Kaaba Shrine, and Iowa Implement Dealers Association. He was instrumental in forming the West Liberty Rescue unit and served on the committee for the building of Carver Hawkeye Arena.

His community was his love and hobby, and he enjoyed making people laugh. He never met a stranger!

Survivors include wife Patricia of West Liberty; two children: Cynthia (Dan) Brooke-Todd of West Des Moines, Iowa, and James Kerr (Nadine) Brooke of Waukesha, Wis.; four grandchildren: Megan (Brad) Todd Rodenburg, Robert Todd, Jacob Findlay Brooke and Ryan Brooke; one great-granddaughter, Harper Rodenburg; and sister Catherine Brooke Fisher of Burnsville, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
