Mark “Cubby” Worrell, 52, of West Branch died Monday, June 15, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the West Branch High School Auditorium. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch with Masonic Service following at 7 p.m. Burial will be at the West Branch Municipal Cemetery. Mark was born Aug. 31, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Alfred J. and Darlene R. Woode Worrell. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1980. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Streets on Oct. 23, 1993, in West Branch. Mark owned and operated Big Timber Excavating and Grading in West Branch. He has served as Mayor of West Branch since 2013. Prior to taking office as mayor, Mark served on the West Branch City Council for 17 years.

Mark was a member of the Masonic Lodge 381, Kiwanis, and the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge. He also volunteered for the West Branch Fire Department for more than 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Worrell, of West Branch; three daughters: Mandy, Samantha, and Stephanie Worrell (from a previous marriage to Lynn Phelps Worrell) all of West Branch; his father, Alfred Worrell, of West Branch; two sisters: Linda (Bill) Mysak of Monticello and Teresa (George) Waters of West Branch; two brothers: Brad (Rosene) Worrell of West Branch and Scott (Cindy) Worrell of West Branch; He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Worrell.
