Elizabeth Kay was born July 26, 1937, in Bethel Ridge, Ky., the daughter of Luther and Pauline Hodge Godbey. At the age of 5, her family moved to Indiana. She attended school in Williamsport, Pine Valley and Winthrop. Following the death of her mother when Elizabeth was 7, she lived with her father, Luther, and stepmother, Ruth. After high school, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Jim Poindexter and had one son, Kevin. After divorcing, she lived several places before settling in West Branch and was married to Kenneth Kettler; they later divorced. She lived most of the rest of her life in West Branch. She met Lloyd Erboe and for more than 33 years they enjoyed life together.

Known as “Kitty,” she had several jobs, but her passion was children. She started her own daycare out of her home more than 30 years ago and continued up until her death. It really wasn’t a business or job, to her it was her passion. Those were not just somebody’s children, they were all her grandchildren and for most she was known as “Grandma Kitty.”

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Erboe of West Branch; Lloyd’s daughter, Lynda Amis of Arkansas; three sons: Keith (Laura) Kettler of West Branch and his children: Kollin and Katie Bug of West Branch, Kelly Kettler and his fiancé, Angel Hammond of Wheatland, and his children: Steven (Trena) Burtlow and their daughter, Bella, of Waterloo, Kelby James of Clark, Mo., and Ryanne and Elly of Wheatland; Chris (Melissa) Kettler of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and their daughter, Danielle, and granddaughter, Myca June, of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Kathy (Keith) Noel and her children: Kayla (Tyson) Humphrey and their son, John Curtis of West Branch, Thomas “Peanut Butter” (Chantry) Noel and their daughter, Lyla, of West Branch, Kody Crow of West Branch, Cheyanne Crow of West Branch and Cassie Noel of Cedar Rapids; sister Judy (Dick) Lade of Indiana; and nephew Chad (Amanda) Lade and their children, Addison and Kinley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Charles Godbey, stepmother Ruth Godbey, son Curtis Kyle Kettler and stepson Mike Erboe.
