Barn destroyed by fire

A school bus driver reported a blaze about 3:50 p.m. Sept. 29 at the property of Lance and Jennifer Schiele, 2092 Delta Ave.
West Branch, West Liberty and Tipton fire departments responded, with West Branch Fire Chief Kevin Stoolman saying the barn was “totally involved” upon arrival.
No one was home and no one was injured, he said, and firefighters spent about four hours on the scene.
“It was a pretty good-sized fire,” Stoolman said. “It took a little bit.”
Stoolman said the barn contained a tractor and other equipment, causing black smoke that could be seen for miles.
The barn was also used as a shop and office. The cause of the fire was undetermined as of press time.
