Nordex may acquire Acciona lawsuit
News · November 25, 2015

Bloomberg Business reported Nov. 17 that part of Acciona that Nordex will acquire with a planned $837 million purchase includes a criminal complaint in Spain.

Inneo Torress SL, a Spanish company which builds concrete towers for wind turbines, is suing Acciona for intellectual copyright theft, according to a letter that Bloomberg reporters Rodrigo Orihuela and Brian Parkins stated they saw.

The article, which appears at Bloomberg.com, states that a judge is weighing the merits of the case, which was filed in September 2014.

Acciona Windpower North America, headquartered in West Branch, announced in September 2010 that it would build two operational wind turbines for a demonstration site in Mechanicsville. One of the towers would be built from concrete, the 81st such tower to be built by Acciona in the United States.

Bloomberg reports Acciona purchased Inneo Torres patents on the concrete towers, but the lawsuit says Acciona stopped making payments on those patents.

Acciona announced in October that it would sell Acciona Windpower, including the West Branch assembly plant, to Nordex, with the deal expected to close after the start of the new year.
