Verena (nee Cahill) Faherty, of Muskego, Wis., was born to eternal life on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the age of 92 years after a debilitating illness.
She was born near West Branch on Jan. 3, 1924, the daughter of Maurice and Rosetta Cahill. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in Iowa City and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clarke College in Dubuque in 1945.
Verena was married on Aug. 20, 1946, in Iowa City to the love of her life, John. She served on various area boards and committees, was a longtime member and past president of the Hales Corners Woman’s Club, Milwaukee-Waukesha Rural Carriers Auxiliary and St. Mary Faith Community Choir.
Verena will be deeply missed by her children, Millicent (and the late Gary) Kunesh, Janaan (and the late Kenneth) Witt, Michael Faherty, Timothy Faherty, Patrick (Sharon) Faherty and Dennis (Patricia) Faherty; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother James Quinten(Rosalie) Cahill of West Branch, Iowa; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; sister Maurece Cahill; brother Bernard Cahill.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
Verena’s family wishes to thank the Muskego Health Care Center and the Hometown Hospice team for their excellent care and compassion.
