Last weekend for Cedars Edge
by Gregory R. Norfleet · News · October 27, 2016

Cedars Edge Golf Course co-owner Jerry Sexton said the golf course will close after this weekend, with the future uncertain.

Property owners Pamella and Rick Miller, a mother-son team, will put the golf course back up for sale, though there is no guarantee a new owner will reopen the golf course; the Millers have said they do not plan to reopen the course themselves.

Sexton said the community brought “pretty decent support” after he and wife Tammy secured the business back in May. The Millers and Sextons’ contract was discontinued in September and Cedars Edge was allowed to operate through October.

Sexton said residents and golfers commented that they were “happy to see it mowed,” and said it was in “good shape — the best it’s been in a long while.”

He said he never quite got the course looking as good as he hoped to start advertising, and reopening it two months into the golf season hurt business, too.

Fox Run Golf and Country Club officially closed March 21; the Sextons reopened it several weeks later under the new name. The course originally opened in the mid-1960s and has been operated under five different owners.

The last time the 80-acre course went on the market, it was listed at $1.2 million.
