Local gymnasts to represent Iowa

West Branch girls with the Iowa Gymnastics Academy competed Friday at the Iowa Optional State Gymnastics Meet in Des Moines.
Competing in Level 8, Maycee Smith earned first place to become the floor state champion, third place on the vault, fifth place on the bars and seventh on the beam; Olivia Poppen took second place on the bars, second place on the beam, third place on the floor and fifth on the vault; and Ava Finley took fifth on the beam, fifth on the floor, seventh on the vault and ninth on the bars. Overall, the Level 8 team finished fourth.

Chloe Sarver competed at Level 9, finishing in second on the bars, third on the floor, fifth on the vault and 10th on the beam.

The Level 9 team finished third overall.

The results of the state meet qualified all four girls to represent Iowa in the Region 4 Level 8-10 Gymnastics Championships.

This meet will take place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota the weekend of April 7-9th.
