The West Branch girls track and field team placed fifth in a field of 10 at the Mid-Prairie Relays April 20 in Wellman.

Also, it was announced last week that West Branch senior Paige Miller is one of the Drake Relays qualifiers.

She qualified for the 400m hurdles race

“Drake invited 16 qualifiers from across all four classes,” West Branch Co-head Coach Carol Lumpa said. “Paige has qualified in the seventh spot, so she will be running in the fast heat. This has been one of Paige’s goals for the season. She is the only 2A qualifier in the field. We are so proud of her. Paige has been working so hard, both off season and during the season. She is so deserving of this.”

Team scores: 1) Solon 130, 2) Pekin 96, 3) Fairfield 92, 4) Mid-Prairie 87.50, 5) West Branch 66.50, 6) Wilton 37, 7) HLV 25, 8) West Liberty 23, 9) Montezuma 20, 10) Mount Vernon 10
