Two events and five athletes represented the West Branch boys track and field team at the Iowa State Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines May 18 and 19.

May 18, the 4x800 team of Jordan Baldwin, John Yates, Atlas Kolpin, and Ben Thompson ran their event.

“We didn’t run very well as a team,” West Branch Head Coach Taylor Larson said, “but it was a great experience for our younger guys to compete on this big of a stage.

“The highlight for the group was (when) Jordan Baldwin opened up the 4x800 with a 2:06.”

May 19, Cooper Kabela ran in the 110m high hurdles preliminary race.

“He ran a 15.71 and placed 18th,” Larson said.

“I want to thank the seniors and their parents for their support and dedication to the track program over the past few years,” Larson said. “It was great to see many parents, families, friends, and community members at track meets.

“As track coaches, we are going to miss each one of our seniors as they continued to help build the track program.”
