Jonathan Charles Bullers, 73, of West Branch, passed away Aug. 3rd, 2017, at Bickford of Marion due to complications from Alzheimerís disease.

Jon was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Newton, the fifth son of Gladys Marie Lauritson and Samuel Arthur Bullers. He graduated from Newton High School in 1961 and served as a cryptographer in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. On Dec. 7, 1968, Jon married Pamela Dian Reece at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1971, he worked as a Media Specialist at Cedar Falls High School and pursued his hobbies of photography and building and flying radio controlled aircraft. This latter interest led to his opening his own repair business, Jonís RC Electronics, which he operated for 10 years. In 1985, he was hired as a Broadcast Engineer at the University of Iowa, where one of his responsibilities was the satellite transmission of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games for nationally televised broadcasts. Jon retired in 2010, spending his well-earned free time building a Vanís RV-12 personal aircraft.

He was a member of the Chauncey Butler American Legion Post 514, the West Branch Lions Club, and the Antique Aircraft Association. A lifetime member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Jonís greatest joy was flying his Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser.

Jon is survived by Pam, his wife of 48 years; their daughters, Perin Bullers-Schwartz (spouse Sheldon Schwartz) of Saint Paul, Minn., and Regan Bullers (spouse Jim Pogemiller) of Seabrook, Texas; two grandsons, Kai Schwartz (10) and Liam Pogemiller (3); mother-in-law Darlene Reece; sisters-in-law, Lynette Reece Keefe, Marjorie Bullers and Alice Bullers; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Anna; brothers, Samuel, Daniel, David, and Paul; father-in-law Verne Reece; nieces, Angela Kaye Reece and Melody Sue Bullers; nephew Finn Davidson Bullers; and brother-in-law and best friend Parris Reece.
