BREAKING: Info on last-minute write-in council candidacy of Andy Mundell
by Gregory R. Norfleet · News · November 07, 2017

The West Branch Times spoke briefly with City Council write-in candidate Andy Mundell:

Mundell, 45, is married to Jenny, and they have two daughters: Andrea, a 2014 graduate of West Branch High School, and Grace, who is in eighth grade.

He works full time for United Parcel Service and has lived in West Branch since 1991.

Friends suggested he should run for city council, and at first he thought they meant it as a joke, he said.

Then the conversations continued, with the issue of providing "another option" in an otherwise uncontested council race.

There are two candidates Nick Goodweiler and Jodee Stoolman running for two open seats.

"I didn't know if they were dissatisfied with the candidates," he said, or that they just wanted voters to have another choice.

Mundell said he then agreed to run.

"Then it was posted on Facebook and kinda just took off," Mundell wrote in a Facebook message to the Times.
