West Branch Middle School’s eighth-grade girls basketball team fell to Wilton but beat Durant in recent action.

“We faced a very good Wilton team that showed some things that we need to improve on,” Coach Rich Stout said. “We needed to handle their pressure defense better. The girls bounced back and shot the ball really well against Durant. Defensively we played well, holding Durant to 8 points in the two games combined.”

Against Wilton, the A team Bears fell 34-23.

Scoring: Laikyn Worrell 2, Lexi Klinkhammer 3, Delaynie Luneckas 18.

The team made 1-4 free throws and had 29 rebounds, 7 blocks, 4 steals, 4 assists and 28 turnovers.

In the B game, West Branch fell 22-16.

Scoring: Annie Bower 4, Grace Mundell 4, Madison Hovancik 4, Addie Wehde 4.

The team had 11 rebounds, 1 block, 8 steals, 2 assists and 11 turnovers.

Against Durant, West Branch’s A team dominated the Wildcats, 38-2.

Scoring: Laikyn Worrell 4, Andee Atkins 2, Lexi Klinkhammer 15, Delaynie Luneckas 12, Annie Bower 2, Madison Hovancik 1, Addie Wehde 2

The team shot 4-7 free throws and had 25 rebounds, 3 blocks, 15 steals, 7 assists and 9 turnovers.

In the B game, West Branch edged out Durant 7-6.

The team shot 1-4 free throws and had 10 rebounds, 14 steals and 6 turnovers.
