Vivian P. ‘Shorty’ Hahn, 67, of Iowa City, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018.

A time of visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. Burial of Shorty’s urn will take place privately at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the Vivian Hahn Memorial Fund.

Vivian Paulyne Hahn was born Nov. 25, 1950, in Iowa City, Iowa; daughter of William G. and Sylvia F. (Tuttle) Hahn. Vivian was involved in an automobile accident at an early age and as a result of her injuries has been confined to her wheelchair ever since. She attended school in West Branch, and went onto earn her GED from Kirkwood Community College in 1985, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.

She had an infectious smile, and a unique sense of humor. She loved art, especially drawing and painting, as well as her pet birds.

Shorty’s family includes her siblings, John Hahn and wife Pati of Riverside, Anna Marie Sleeth of Parnell, Sylvia Smith and husband Dean of Oxford, Dave Hanh and wife Pat of Iowa City, Kenny Hahn and wife Cindy of Iowa City, Charlotte Hahn and husband Frank Mesa of Iowa City, Bill Hahn and wife Cathy of Iowa City, Mary Hahn-Sexton of West Branch and Charlie Pence Jr. and wife Diana of Iowa City; brother-in-law Alan Lang of Central City; and numerous extended family members. Vivian was also very close to her caregivers from Systems Unlimited, especially Mike Mahoney and his family.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; brother William T. “Butch” Hahn; and brothers-in-law, Howard Sleeth and Duane Stransky.
