Obituaries · January 25, 2018

Carolyn Hart, 91, of Fort Dodge passed away Jan. 7, 2018 at the home of her daughter.

Gunderson Funeral Home in Fort Dodge was in charge of the arrangements. Carolyn’s last gift was to donate her body to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for medical research.

Born Jan. 1, 1927, Carolyn was an avid sports fan of any kind. She knew every stat, every coach, every player and every announcer in both college and professional sports. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, camping, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She married her childhood sweetheart, William (Bill), and the couple farmed in the northwest part of Iowa for many years. The couple moved to Fort Dodge and lived there for many years before Bill passed away in 1983. After Bill’s death, she moved to West Branch in 1984. While in West Branch she touched many lives and did a variety of jobs in the area. She worked at McDonald’s, and as a housekeeper at the hotel, a bartender at the hotel, a study hall monitor at the middle school, and worked out of her home in West Branch reupholstering furniture for many local residents.

In 2000, she moved back to her home town of Coon Rapids to live with her sister until 2007. She resided with her daughter, Pamela, in Fort Dodge until her death.

Survivors include her children, Pamela (Harry) Berg, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Robert (Deb) Hart of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Timothy (JoLeene) Hart of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Lisa (Jonathan) English of West Branch; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her son, Michael.

RIP Grandma Hart. You will be dearly missed. See you in the next chapter.
