8th volleyball sweeps Mid-Prairie

The 8th-grade volleyball team kicked off their season against Mid-Prairie with a sweep of wins.
The A team won both sets with scores of 21-14 and 21-15. The B team also won 2 sets with scores of 20-18 and 15-13.

“This team is very talented and has really good chemistry,” Coach Lynette Poula commented. “I am looking forward to advancing their skills and improving their volleyball knowledge that can prepare them all for the next level.”

The team will take a week before their next match, which is a Sept. 17 home game against Cascade in the West Branch Middle School gym.

“We will take this time to continue adding some details to the defense/offense and fine tune a few skills,” Poula said.

Leaders of the A match included Kai Senio serving 13/14 with 4 ace serves; Ava Lacina going 12/14 with 5 ace serves; and both Layla Hamilton and Sage Horgen going 6/6 with 1 ace serve each.

Further, Kai Senio and Ava Lacina combined for 16 kills in the two sets. And Sophia Petrin led with 15 assists of the 22 team assists.

In the B match, leaders included Sydney Nash with 7 ace serves and going 10/10. Kylie Puhl went 3/4 with 2 ace serves and Sage Horgan led with 2 kills.
