8th VB team opens 3-0

The eighth-grade volleyball team is off to a 3-0 record after beating Regina, Wilton and Mid-Prairie last week.


“The girls have been working really hard on their passes, which helps everything else come together,” Coach Lynette Poula said. “I have been most proud of their serving, which has been winning us games.”

At Wilton, the A team scores were 21-9 and 21-13; B team scores were 21-12 and 21-14; and C team scores were 21-9 and 21-11.

Serving for the A team: Leah Hott was 8 for 9 with 3 aces; Shannon Laing was 5/7 with 2 aces

Hitting for the A team: Shannon Laing 6 for 8 with 1 kill; Leah Hott was 3 for 3 with 3 kills; and Maria Kyllingstad was 2/2 with 1 kill.

Serving for the B team: Mary Baldwin was 9 for 9 with 4 aces; Andrea Mundell was 9/11 with 5 aces; and Skylar Fitzgerald was 5/5 with 1 ace

Hitting for the B team: Emmy Shaver was 3 for 4 with 2 kills; Mary Baldwin was 2/3 with 1 kill; and Andrea Mundell was 3 for 3

Serving for the C team: Brittney Wolf was 5 for 6 with 2 aces; Alex VanTrump was 4 for 6 with 2 aces; and Whitney Koppes was 4 for 5.

At Mid-Prairie, the A team won 16-21, 21-12, 15-10; the B team won 12-18 and 21-13; and the C team won 21-13.

“The kids are working hard, fighting and proud of their season so far,” Poula said. “They are really executing nicely.”
