Howsare, Gould compete in weightlifting

West Branch High School students Thomas Gould and Kira Howsare competed June 23-25 in USA Weightlifting’s 2017 National Youth Championships at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta.
Representing the Got Strength Team and led by Coach Phil Johnson, who posted the above photos on Instagram, the two weightlifters entered the snatch and clean & jerk competitions.
Johnson wrote that he was “super pumped” to take the two to the contest.
Howsare competed in the 16-17 age division and attempted snatches of 45 and 47 kg, as well as clean & jerks of 60, 64 and 67 kg, though she did not place.
Gould competed in the 14-15 age division and attempted snatches of 60, 64 and 68 kg, as well as clean & jerks of 82 and 87 kg.
He scored 155 and finished in 14th place.
