Tales of the Sea theme for tree display

In honor of Herbert Hoover’s love of the sea, the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum will be exhibiting, Tales of the Sea Christmas, Nov. 18 - Jan. 7.


This exhibit will take you to the watery depths as you discover Christmas trees decorated with the following sea themes: The Sea, Men of the Sea, Myths & Legends, Lighthouses, Maritime Force, Shipwrecks, Jaws, Sea Songs, America’s Cup Race, King Neptune, Pirates, Sea Monsters, Mermaids, Biblical Stories, Places of the Sea, Vessels and the Titanic.

The galleries will feature Hoover family movies from 1928 and an area of children’s games.

Christmas Past weekend is celebrated downtown West Branch, Dec. 1-2. Horse-drawn rides, music, a tree lighting ceremony, Santa and Mrs. Claus and much more provide free entertainment for the whole family.

The acting group, The Young Footliters, will perform, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” at the Hoover Museum.

Tickets are free and will be available at Coralville Performing Arts. Performances are: Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
