Naber named NHS scholarship finalist

West Branch High School senior Olivia Naber will receive a $3,200 scholarship after the National Honor Society named her a semi-finalist for 2024.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals named the list of finalists and semi-finalists earlier this month.

Naber was one of 575 national semifinalists.

WBHS NHS advisor Kristen Westpheling said Naber is the third West Branch student to win the scholarship in the past four years.

A daughter of Jacob Naber and Marcy Willier, Naber is involved in band, marching band, pep band, jazz band, choir, show choir, The Bear student newspaper, student government, the National Honor Society, Literary Circle, theater, musical theater, Talented and Gifted, and the Spanish conversation club.

She also is active in the Iowa City Bruisers’ roller derby team and sings the National Anthem at sporting events.

Naber plans to attend the University of Iowa for English and creative writing. She has won the University of Iowa Now Flash Writing Contest and was a runner up for the Paul Engle essay contest.
